A couple days ago, I received a very generous package from Cult Cosmetics to do a review on. This package included 2 of their Nail Art Kits from their website. The two kits I received were Out of this World by Chelsea, and Resort to Runway by Anna! I'm SO in love with these kits.
The Nail Art Kits on their website include everything you need to complete the desired manicure. From polish to tools, to extras, it's all there! My favorite part about these kits are that they're not expensive at all, and they use name brand polishes! Some of the brands include Essie, Nubar, Color Club, O.P.I. and more! You're getting WELL worth your money for buying these awesome kits.
These kits range anywhere from $9.99- $24.99 but usually stay in the $17-19.99 range, which, as I said above is well worth it. I'm so excited for these kits, and think they would be awesome birthday and Christmas presents, or any holiday you celebrate :) They also have a store on their website in which you can purchase additional materials such as tools, extras, polishes, top coats, base coats, cuticle oils, ect. It's an awesome all-in-one site!
The kits are also carefully constructed so that you can replicate the exact nail design that you would like. I had no problem with my kits, and didn't need to use any of my own material, I created my designs with only the objects given to me. There are also extremely detailed tutorials for the kits on their Youtube channel, which I will link further below.
I honestly just can't get over the quality of these kits, and the amount of thought and dedication that goes into each nail design. I will admit, I need to work at my skills of perfecting these designs, because I love both so much, so I want to get them down pact and somewhat perfected, so please don't judge me on my skills right now ;)
The first kit I received and instantly tried out (literally, my friend was over and said "YOU NEED TO DO THIS TO ME NOW!") was Out of this World by Chelsea King! A Little background on Chelsea, she's a nail art enthusiast and blog owner of Chelseasgetnailed.com! She's an awesome nail artist.
The Out of this World kit came with 4 different polishes, and two cosmetic sponges! Such a simple kit for a gorgeous design :)
These are the beautiful, full sized polishes. 1 Nubar and 3 Essie :) The cost of the 3 Essie polishes alone is well over the price of this kit which is $19.99.
This is the first color, and first step of the beautiful design! The color is Midnight Cami which is a dark, dark blue that almost looks black in some light. It is almost metallically as well! It has beautiful shimmer and is a gorgeous color all around. The one problem I have with it is that it stains your nails horribly, so I advise wearing a basecoat or a few layers of basecoat for added protection.
For this design, paint all of your nails a coat of this beautiful color. This will be your base color for the "galaxy". I only needed one coat, and it was perfectly applied onto my nails with opacity :)
The next color, and next step for the design is Borrowed & Blue. It is literally the perfect baby blue, and is a rich creamy color.
What you want to do next is grab the sponge given in the kit, and paint a little on the tip of it. Then begin sponging random areas of your nail. I didn't take pictures of this, because it's kind of self explanatory and there is no real way to mess this up. It'll be unique to each individual :)
Next is this gorgeous, gorgeous color that I'm super obsessed with called Jamaica Me Crazy. It's a gorgeous magenta color with this almost pinkish/silverish shimmer to it. I can't get over this and nearly squealed when I saw it in this kit! :)
The next thing you want to do is grab your sponge again, and paint a little on the tip. Go back over your nails and sponge some near the blue, so that it almost looks blended into each other. You don't want to make it covering the blue, but they should be sponged next to each other. You can then take Midnight Cami, and go back over some spots where you may think it's too concentrated with bright color, and sponge a little to even it out and blend it a little more.
The last color and final step is Nubar's Silver Spark. This is my first Nubar polish, and I'm in love with it! It's a gorgeous clear base with giant holographic glitter, and small holographic glitter. This is the BRIGHTEST glitter topcoat I've ever seen :)
This is simply just to add "stars" into your galaxy. Just put a swipe of this on your design, and it's complete :)
This is my finish manicure! I absolutely LOVED the way it came out, but didn't like how the picture came out. My camera would not focus on the design because of the glitter...but you can see it a little bit :) I was getting complimented on this design left and right, and even had my grandmother, who is reserved with her polish only wearing light pinks, tell me she wanted it done on her!
Here is another shot of my design.
And here's a somewhat better shot of my friends that I did on her, it's a little messy around the edges but this was literally RIGHT after we finished :)
Overall I thought this was an amazing set, and was really satisfied with the color combinations and the overall pay off of the design :)
The next kit I received was Resort to Runway by Anna Stimson! Anna Stimson is an L.A. Based Nail Artist, who actually starred on an MTV show called Maui Fever which was sort of like Laguna Beach! Anyways, she's an awesome Nail Artist who's work is fantastic :)
This kit was inspired by the Runway (of course...it's in the name of the kit!)! It shows a bag on the website of what looks to be the actual inspiration as it is the same design :) I wasn't too crazy about this when I saw it, but then when it was on my nails, it really struck me as being gorgeous!
Resort to Runway comes with 4 full sized Essie polishes, a Sable professional nail art brush, 2 cosmetic sponges, and the fabric tool!
These are the 4 beautiful Essie shades! The price of all 4 of these are well over the cost of the kit itself, which is $19.99!
This kit consists of different designs on each finger, which is one of my favorite Nail designs to do. This was the kit that my skills really were tested because doing the bags design on the middle finger was a little tricky.
These are the cosmetic sponges, nothing too interesting about them...they're typical cosmetic sponges :)
This is the Sable brush which is amazing! I love the thickness of the handle, it makes it easier to hold and I can hold it like I do a pen or pencil.
This is the fabric tool! It's really just a piece of fabric like fishnet stockings sort of...I think that's the best way to describe it :) This is used to make a chain/metal like design on one of the nails. It's awesome and I can't wait to use it for other colors and shades for different manicures!
This is the first color and first step of this design! It's Essie's Blanc, which is a true white color. There's not much to say about this besides it's white :P
You're going to want to paint all of your fingers with this white polish. I actually received a professional tip from Zoya today in my email saying that you should do a thin coat of white first, then follow it up with a thicker coat to spread it all more evenly, and then if needed, a third thin coat to perfect it without streaks. White is one of the hardest colors for me to paint my fingers, but this white was the perfect consistency.
The next color and step is Essie's Mint Candy Apple. This is an AWESOME color, partly because I'm in love with Mint Green...it's a weakness. Anyways, this is like a sea foam green, very creamy and beautiful.
On Cult Cosmetics' website, it shows that this green is put on the pinky. So all you're really going to do is paint a strip of Mint Candy Apple on either side of your nail, for their picture and mine I did it on the right side of the nail, as well as the other colors you do this technique with. Also, on your middle finger, where your bag design will be, you'll want to paint a square from your cuticle up, but stopping about halfway up your nail. Make sure to leave white on the side as well!
The next color and step is Essie's Orange, It's Obvious which is a gorgeous pumpkiny orange! I love it :)
With the orange, you're supposed to do the stripe as you did on your pinky, only this time on your index finger. Do it on the same side that you did your pinky on, so if it was the left, do it on the left this time. You can see what I mean in the pictures below. Also, you're going to want to go back to your middle finger, and paint an orange semi oval onto the green you had painted previously.
Next is this black Essie polish in Licorice. This is honestly just a pure black color, once again nothing too interesting about it.
With Licorice you're going to paint a stripe across the top of your middle finger, almost as if it was a french manicure. Then you're going to make a dot between the orange and green colors, as if it is a button :) Also, do your thumb like your index and pinky finger, except with this color! :)
The last step is to mix a little of Licorice and Blanc together to create a nice grey color, then take your fabric tool, stretch it across your ring finger so you can hold it underneath, take your sponge, dab it in the grey color and then dab it on your ring finger over the fabric tool to create a chain look/fishnet look :)
I really loved this kit, it was fun to do, and looks amazing and reminds me of something retro :)
In all, I feel these kits, as I said in the begining, are well worth the cost of the kit, and it gives you enough material for continuous usage of the design. You can reuse all materials that are given to you for different manicures or this one over and over again. So it's not just a one time nail design. I really like the fact that it gives you literally everything you need to do it, as well as give you a tutorial on the site! It's so helpful and informative!
A big thank you to Cult Cosmetics again for this wonderful package. I'm still in awe of the generosity. <3 :)
