Lullubee Craft of the Month May 2013 unboxing & review!

I was lucky enough to be sent a box from the wonderful ladies over at Lullubee to review for my awesome subscribers and readers :) Lullubee is an AWESOME DIY craft box that brings a new project to your house every single month! That means you don't have to search Google, then run over to Michaels or JoAnn, and fight the traffic and lines and end up getting a major headache then finally arriving there and realizing that they don't even have what you need in stock...ARGH! Being a crafter, that has happened to me on more than one occasion, and the easiest solution is this awesome subscription service! This service is a little expensive, but worth the joy us crafters get when we complete a project, I mean think about it...you have to waste gas to get to the store, then you go to a mall, and see a Claire's or FYE and then you just have to go in there and buy something else, so instead of going into the craft store for a few items, you end up putting yourself in debt by going throughout the mall. It's easier to pay the cost of the box, which is $34.00 a month! Currently they have 4 "of the month" boxes including Craft of the Month, Doll & Puppet Craft of the Month, Teddy Bear Craft of the Month, and Needle Felting Craft of the Month. All of them are $34.00 a month. If you miss a month and find that you really want the craft, or you just want to purchase your boxes by craft instead of subscription, you can shop through their collections to find the kit you want. Now I can't contain my excitement about this, so I'm going to jump into this!

The kit I received this month, which is the May Craft of the Month, is the French Linen Towels and rosemary-lemon salt! The direction sheet reads:
"Linen is coveted because of it's durability, longevity and beauty, it's the perfect textile for kitchen use. Add a touch of elegance to your kitchen! Linen kitchen towels and rosemary salt make great hostess and holiday gifts."

079This is how the box was wrapped up! HOW CUTE! I fell in love and didn't even want to undo it, but it had to be done :P

081Here was a sneak peek inside and a good look at all of the goodies in my box! These kits literally come with EVERYTHING you need! And gives you enough so you have left overs! Like the masking tape, thread and puffy paint I have left overs of that will definitely come in handy again. I also received a high quality measuring tape as well as a cute little canvas sack that I will definitely find use for!

For the Linen:

082The first product is this Imagin8 Apparel Craft Brush by Michaels Craft Store. I've purchased these brushes and love them! This is another product that will be used again. A lot of people (because these are so disposable...they cost pennies each) don't take care of them and let them get dried and cracky, but if you wash them out good after each use, and squeeze the paint out, they'll last a while! This was used to paint the red stripes on the towel :)

083Next is this .71 in x 60 yds roll of Masking Tape by Tape it! This is traditional masking tape, which is always nice to have on hand! This is used to tape the ends of the cloth down, and mark the lines to paint :)

085Next is a 1.25 fl oz bottle of Tulip Puffy Paint in Red. I'm a huge Puffy Paint lover, and use it all the time. I make family members T-Shirts for birthdays, holidays ect, and use these quiet a bit! I use the technique that I've used with my towels, which is just to paint it on like it's acrylic paint, it doesn't pick off and it loosens up overtime so it's not irritating on your clothes :)

086

087Next is this AWESOME quality tape measure by Loops & Threads! I love these things and use them a LOT in crafting! They're easier, longer, and obviously more flexible than the traditional plastic rulers. This obviously will be used again, and is used to measure the cut of the towels as well as making your stripes with the tape/paint!

089This of course is the linen, it came with enough to make 2 approximately 19" towels. The little tape spot has a needle stuck in it, which is used to hem the edges of the towels :)

090Next was this little bag that housed even more products. I love the stamping on the bag, and the bag in general. It's so tiny and cute, I can't wait to use it for other things :)

092Inside housed a piece of chalk, which is used for marking the towel to cut it in half so you can get 2 out of it!

093A strip of red and white chevron designed fabric, used to make the hanging tags on the towel, this is to be cut in half, and sewed on each towel! :)

091The last item in the bag was this tiny little wooden spoon to use with the Rosemary-Lemon Salt! It's so cute, I love it :)

084This is the little container that you keep your salt in. It's SO cute! I love little jars :)

088Last but not least is the salt! Yes, they even included the Sea Salt! It was in a vaccuume sealed bag, and had enough to fill the jar over halfway! You had to provide your own Rosemary Sprig and Lemon Zest, which I did of course!

Now unfortunately I didn't think to take pictures while I was doing my project, but I will say that it was SO fun! Here are my finished projects:

008

My towel with my jar of salt! :) Of course, I'm not going to lie, this is the only towel I've done so far. I have the other one all hemmed and ready to go, I'm just trying to think of ways I'm going to spice it up. I think I'm going to monogram it :)

010This is my towel, as you can see, there is a little bit of a red spot in the white because it bled underneath the tape. Overall though, I'm completely awed at how fantastic this towel is! I've never used a linen towel before, and now want more! :) I love the simple yet elegant design, and thing that they are the perfect size! I love them!!

009As obvious as the picture is, this is my salt! I'm kind of confused with this. Though it smells amazing, I'm not quite sure what this should be used for. It's very dense and clumpy, almost wet. My mom suggested using it as a rub, so that's what I'm thinking :) I'm so surprised that the smell of the lemon and rosemary mix so perfectly!

I honestly had a TON of fun making this project and would totally buy more! I think for the price of the box, you get an awesome high quality craft experience, with a lot to use again! I think right now, for my budget, I will stick to buying single boxes instead of a monthly subscription, but once my financial situtation becomes stronger I most certainly will subscribe! Sometimes I get craft block, and don't know what to make anymore, and it feels great to be able to let someone do the thought work FOR me!

You can purchase this exact kit on their website for $38.o0

Big thank you to Tiffany and Laura for sending me this box to try out, I absolutely loved it! :)
