"Serious "chilheads' will like this, but we're not at all about burning off people's taste buds. Instead we want to reference flavors from around the world with generally medium heat"
Now the cool thing is that you can pause your subscription anytime! So if you think that it's too hot for a hot sauce, then you don't have to receive it for the month being. I love when companies do that! Now onto the sauce I received!
The first thing it came with was a card. The card tells about the heat seekers club, and the sauce of the month. About the Club:
"Internationally curious foodies can heat things up with hot sauces from the Hungry Globetrotter Heat Seekers Club. You're receiving the small batch, authentic flavors of Bandar Spicy Mango Sauce. Try it on soups, rice, pizza, hot dogs and other dishes for a tangy life (we've heard of diehard fans putting it on Thanksgiving Turkey!)."
This is the bottle! I love how simple yet modern it is. This is an All Natural Chili Sauce! It is also Youth-Trade! On the bottle:
"Meddling with the achar pickling tradition, we give you Bandar's Spicy Mango Chili Sauce. It's bold flavor and savory notes are great mixed in soups, rice, and any dish that needs a tangy lift."
From the card:
"Why do we like it so much? The unique story of Bandar's founders Dan and Lalit and their desire to invent 'Monkey Sauce'. Monkey Sauce, represented by the swinging monkey on the Bandar bottle, embodies the mischievousness and playfulness of the product and it's founders. These two monkeys added their own spice blends and pureed traditional sauce down form their typical chunky form into tasty, squeeze-bottle condiments that until now didn't exist anywhere in the United States."
Upon first smell, it smelled strongly of Maple Syrup almost, but with a spicy touch. I don't care for the smell at all, and it actually turns me off from this product. It might be for the fact I'm not a huge Indian food lover. I think the spices and mixtures they use in their food are strange... I still however did try this. Firstly I put a little on my finger and ate it. The spice was AWESOME! The heat really filled my mouth with only a small dab. Then I tried a little bit more on a Tostitos Chip, and found that the taste of the spices used, actually really bothered me. It was far too savory in my opinion, to be used in soups, or on pizza like stated it could be used with. I think Rice might actually work the best with this, or if I were to be able to mix it up with something else to take the savoriness away. I was trying to figure out what the spice used was...but when I looked on the back it only said "mixed spices". While I know this Club isn't just about the heat, it's about the flavoring mixed in the sauce as well, I wish it was a little less flavored but just the same amount of spiciness. The word I would describe to use this is Heavy. It's a think sauce, but the taste weighs whatever you're eating down and takes over the other flavors. I think I will be passing this on to my ChilHead Brother-In-Law who may appreciate the flavor a little more than I. The smell is super strong, I can smell it in the same room with the cap closed and the bottle not even near me! This would be perfect for people who love ethnic food.
You can purchase this on Bandar's website for $3.99
As for the club, I really like the idea. I do however, feel that if the prices of the sauces are going to be this low, compared to the price of the box, I think another should be added. The cost of the box is $15, and this sauce was $4, making the shipping cost + profit to being about $11, and to me that's high to have to pay for a shipping charge. I know it's meant to make the company (Hungry Globetrotter) a profit as well, but I think another could have been added. Maybe even a smaller, sampler bottle from another brand. I think that I will purchase this as a gift for my Brother-In-Law for his birthday or Christmas, and also for myself, I'd love to try it out again. :)
Thank you to Hungry Globetrotter for sending this my way and letting me try it out!
